On Wednesday, Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi inaugurated the 'Amdavad Experience Centre' in Glasgow, emphasizing the significance of the 2030 Commonwealth Games, which will be hosted by Ahmedabad. He referred to this event as 'a shared dream of the state and its youth,' highlighting the enthusiastic response from the global sports community.

The Experience Centre, established alongside the ongoing Commonwealth Games, aims to present Ahmedabad's sports facilities, cultural heritage, and the city's preparations for the centenary edition of the Games in 2030.

During a media briefing post-inauguration, Sanghavi noted, 'Since yesterday morning, we have recorded over 5,000 registrations, with numerous athletes and representatives from international federations visiting the site until August 2. This initiative transcends mere bidding documents; it embodies our collective aspiration for the state and its youth. I extend my gratitude to PM Modi for his vision that has significantly enhanced sports infrastructure in Gujarat.'

Sanghavi mentioned that the centre will continue to welcome representatives from international sports federations and athletes throughout the Glasgow Games, allowing them to immerse themselves in Ahmedabad's sports ecosystem and cultural identity in anticipation of the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

At the launch event, the Deputy Chief Minister participated in a Garba performance alongside Scottish officials and members of the Commonwealth Games movement, showcasing Gujarat's rich cultural traditions to an international audience.

In addition to the inauguration, Sanghavi met with officials from the British Council to explore opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange in education and culture, as Gujarat intensifies its preparations for the Commonwealth Games.

This visit is part of a broader initiative by Gujarat to enhance its international outreach, aiming to strengthen relationships with global sports organizations and promote Ahmedabad's readiness for the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

The inauguration coincided with a successful period for India at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. By the end of Day 7, India had secured 15 medals, comprising three gold, nine silver, and three bronze. Additionally, six Indian boxers have guaranteed podium finishes by reaching the semifinals in their respective categories.

Notable Indian medalists include Mirabai Chanu (gold in weightlifting), Sharmila Dhankar (gold in women's shot put F57), and Dilip Mahadu Gavit (gold in men's T47 100m), among others.
