RBI has released the list of holidays for the month of August. These holidays are decided on a regional basis. So, if you are going to the bank in the month of August and you have some important work like getting a draft made or getting a cheque cleared, then reconsider your plans. Banks will remain closed for 14 days in August. According to the holiday calendar of the Reserve Bank of India, due to weekly holidays and some major festivals and days, banks will remain closed for almost half the month. When will banks be closed in August 2026?
August 2 (Sunday): Banks will remain closed across the country due to weekly holiday.
August 4: Banks will remain closed only in Agartala due to Ker Puja.
August 8 (Saturday): Bank holiday across the country due to the second Saturday of the month
August 9 (Sunday): Weekly holiday across the country
August 13: Banks closed in Imphal on account of Patriots Day
August 15 (Saturday): Banks closed on account of Independence Day
August 16 (Sunday): Weekly holiday across the country
August 19: Banks closed in Agartala on account of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur Jayanti
August 22 (Saturday): Weekly holiday on the fourth Saturday of the month
August 23 (Sunday): Weekly holiday across the country
August 25: Milad-un-Nabi / First Onam (Banks will be closed in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada)
August 26: Banks will remain closed in several major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Bhopal, Bengaluru on account of Eid-e-Milad/Thiruvonam.
August 28: Bank holiday on account of Raksha Bandhan/Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti
August 30 (Sunday): Weekly holiday across the country
