A student from Karnataka has alleged a serious error in her OMR answer sheet, leading to a score of minus 11 instead of her expected marks. She claims she should have received approximately 668 marks, but the published result showed a completely different score, dealing a major blow to her hopes of securing a medical seat.

Allegation of Discrepancy in OMR Sheet

Bindushree Jagadish Pawar, a resident of Hangal Taluk in Karnataka's Haveri district, alleges that the OMR sheet released by the NTA after the exam does not match the one she filled out during the test. She states that the official records list several answers she never actually selected. Questioning the NTA's evaluation process, the student points out that, according to the agency's records, she answered 41 questions in just one minute—a feat she argues is practically impossible and indicative of a serious error in the OMR records.

Multiple Attempts to Contact NTA Yield No Response

Bindushree states that she repeatedly contacted the NTA helpline and relevant officials regarding this matter. She requested a review and correction of her marksheet but has received no response so far. The student alleges that despite her complaints, the NTA has failed to provide a clear response.

Other Students Also Raise Questions

This is not an isolated incident. In fact, many students and parents involved in the re-examination in Karnataka have alleged a discrepancy between the marks they calculated based on the final answer key and the declared results. Some students claim their scores dropped by 10 to 25 marks, causing a shift of thousands of places in their All-India rank and diminishing their chances of securing admission to a medical college. Some candidates have also alleged that the OMR sheets uploaded by the NTA do not match their actual answers. Demands are being raised to investigate the fairness of the evaluation process in light of these issues.

What did the NTA say?

Amidst these allegations, the NTA has dismissed some claims, stating that many accusations circulating on social media are fake or based on AI-generated content. The agency maintained that evaluation is conducted solely based on the original OMR sheets. However, there has been no official response from the NTA regarding the specific case of Bindushree.
