SAIL Apprentice Recruitment 2026: The Rourkela Steel Plant of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has released the notification for apprentice recruitment for the year 2026-27. A total of 1,110 apprentice positions will be filled through the Learning and Development Department. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online from July 17, 2026, to August 26, 2026. The application process will be conducted via the NAPS and NATS portals.

This recruitment drive aims to fill 421 Trade Apprentice, 414 Diploma (Technician) Apprentice, and 275 Graduate Apprentice positions. Selection will be based on academic merit, followed by a call for candidates to appear for document verification at Rourkela.

Educational Qualifications

For Trade Apprentices, passing the ITI (Industrial Training Institute) course in the relevant trade is mandatory. For Diploma Apprentices, a diploma in the relevant engineering branch is required, and for Graduate Apprentices, a degree in the relevant engineering or non-engineering discipline is mandatory. The candidate's institution must be government-recognized.
Additionally, only candidates who passed their qualifying examination as regular students in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible to apply. Age Limit
As of August 31, 2026, candidates must be between 18 and 28 years of age. Candidates belonging to reserved categories will be granted age relaxation in accordance with government regulations.

Selection Process
Candidates will be selected based on academic merit. In preparing the merit list, 30% weightage will be given to Class 10 marks and 70% weightage to marks obtained in ITI/Diploma/Degree. Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for document verification at Rourkela. Final selection will be based on document verification and the vacancies available in the respective trade.
