Real Madrid have suffered a setback on the squad front this weekend, with confirmation that young midfielder Thiago Pitarch is set for a spell on the sidelines.
Pitarch, who has just come through a breakthrough 2025/26 campaign, ended the season with a surprising 11 starts across La Liga and the Champions League.
Still only 18, the promising talent had been hoping to use pre-season in Spain’s capital to keep his progress moving forward and make a strong impression on new manager José Mourinho.
However, only weeks into preparations for the season ahead, Pitarch has now been dealt a blow.
According to a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano, citing Real Madrid insider Arancha Rodríguez:
‘Thiago Pitarch has suffered a knee injury in a Real Madrid training session. He’s expected to be out until the beginning of September.’
