According to the latest forecast, 12 states are likely to witness heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds on Sunday, July 26, with wind speeds expected to reach 60–70 km/h in some areas.

The weather department has advised residents, farmers, and travelers to remain alert as intense rain, lightning, and strong winds may lead to waterlogging, falling trees, traffic disruptions, and localized damage. People living near rivers, coastal regions, and hilly areas have also been urged to stay updated with local weather advisories.

IMD Issues Rain and Storm Warning for 12 States

The latest IMD bulletin places the following states under heavy rain and thunderstorm alerts:

Bihar May Witness Strong Winds Up to 70 km/h

Heavy showers are expected across Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Purnia, Kishanganj, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Araria, Supaul, Madhubani, and East & West Champaran.

The IMD has also warned of:

• Lightning activity in several districts
• Temporary disruption to transport and farming operations

Jharkhand and West Bengal Under Rain Alert

Heavy rainfall has also been forecast for several districts of Jharkhand, including Ranchi, Dumka, Bokaro, Giridih, Jamshedpur, Ramgarh, Gumla, and Simdega.

Meanwhile, Kolkata, Kalimpong, Cooch Behar, Murshidabad, Hooghly, Nadia, Purulia, and South 24 Parganas in West Bengal are likely to receive heavy rainfall with gusty winds reaching around 60 km/h.

Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh

Hill states continue to remain vulnerable due to active monsoon conditions.

In Uttarakhand, districts such as Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Haridwar, and Nainital may receive heavy rainfall over the next two days.

In Himachal Pradesh, rain is expected across Shimla, Kullu, Kangra, Chamba, Solan, Mandi, Bilaspur, and Kinnaur. Travelers heading to mountainous areas are advised to monitor road conditions before starting their journey.

Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat

The IMD has also forecast widespread rain in parts of western and central India.

Gujarat

Heavy rainfall has been predicted in Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Dang, Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, and Amreli, with gusty winds expected during the day.

Maharashtra Also Likely to Receive Heavy Rain

Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Pune, Ratnagiri, Gadchiroli, Gondia, and Amravati are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall.
