Known for her girl-next-door roles in Marathi television, GauriNalawade will next be seen alongside Amruta Khanvilkar in an upcoming film shot in Goa. In a chat with Goa Times, the actor reflects on finding peace in Goa, growing through every project and why emotionally layered characters excite her.

GOA HELPS ME SLOW DOWN

For Gauri, Goa is synonymous with peace. "It has this beautiful ability to slow life down," she says. Surrounded by the sea, greenery and monsoon rains, the state reminds her to be present. She adds, "Whenever I'm in Goa, I feel lighter, more creative and more connected to myself." Her perfect day in Goa begins with an early morning walk on the beach, followed by a cup of coffee and meditation. She enjoys exploring quaint cafés and hidden beaches before winding down with music, a sunset, simple Goan food and meaningful conversations.


THIS FILM GAVE ME A DIFFERENT GOA

Although Goa has always been one of her favourite destinations, shooting here gave her a fresh perspective. "This film itself has become one of my most memorable Goa memories. Spending a month here, shooting through the rains and discovering beautiful locations has allowed me to experience Goa not as a tourist, but as someone living and breathing the place every day," she says.

I'M DRAWN TO LAYERED CHARACTERS

Having carved a niche with her girl-next-door roles and most recently appearing in Gaav Bolavato alongside Bhushan Pradhan, Gauri says every project has shaped her in a different way. "Meditation, travelling, observing people and simply growing as a person have made me a better actor," she says. Today, she is drawn to emotionally layered characters with strengths, flaws and contradictions. While psychological dramas are on her wishlist after watching Obsession, she is equally keen to explore period films inspired by the storytelling of Hrishikesh Mukherjee. "More than the genre, I'm always looking for stories that say something meaningful about being human," she concludes.
