In a recent report, The Sun said that Manchester United are keeping a close watch on the situation of Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins. It has been claimed that the Red Devils would need to battle Arsenal in the race to sign the English forward this summer.
Watkins enjoyed a strong spell of form at the Midlands club after he put together a series of impressive performances in the attacking end of the pitch. The English talent scored 21 goals and registered five assists in 55 appearances for Aston Villa last season across multiple competitions.
The 30-year-old is now among the gifted forwards in the Premier League. So, it is no surprise that the Red Devils are showing interest in bringing in the English striker this summer.
His current contract at Old Trafford will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for Man United to move for him in this transfer window.

Watkins is very good at creating a bit of space for himself to get shots away on target. He also has the vision to play key passes around the opposition penalty area and is a strong dribbler when the ball is at his feet.
The English talent can be a regular scorer in front of the opposition goal. Watkins is mainly a centre-forward, but he can also play as a winger on either side if needed. He has already shown his quality in the Premier League and should not need much time to settle into life at Man United.
We can expect Watkins to add more attacking threat to Michael Carrick’s frontline. He is good enough to compete for a regular place in the Mancunian club’s starting XI in the coming seasons.
At 30, Watkins is still in his prime and would be a welcome addition to Man United‘s squad this summer. He would also help the Red Devils challenge for major honours over the next few years. Taking everything into account, Carrick would be wise to go all out to sign Watkins as he would be a brilliant choice for his team in the short term.
