Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the holiday list for the month of August. According to this, all government and private banks including State Bank of India (SBI), HDFC and ICICI are going to remain closed for a total of 14 days next month. In such a situation, you should plan your bank work in advance, so that you do not have to face any problem later and none of your important work gets stuck.
Regular and regional holidays will have an impact
Let us tell you that these 14 days of holidays not only include the regular holidays of Sunday and second-fourth Saturday, but also include major regional festivals and national festivals of many states. However, despite the bank branches being locked, customers do not need to worry too much, because all types of online and digital services will continue to operate as before.
Weekly bank holidays for the month of August
If we talk about weekends i.e. weekly holidays in the month of August, then banks will remain closed for a total of 7 days in this month only due to Saturday and Sunday. The month itself is starting with Sunday holiday on 2nd August. After this, there will be no work in banks due to August 8 being the second Saturday of the month and August 9 being a Sunday. Moving forward, there will be a weekly holiday in banks across the country on Sunday 16th August, fourth Saturday on 22nd August, Sunday on 23rd August and finally on 30th August as well.
Banks will not open on these dates due to festivals
Apart from weekly holidays, banks are also going to remain closed for several days in August due to festivals in different states. There will be a bank holiday in Agartala on 4th August due to Ker Puja. At the same time, the functioning of banks will remain halted due to Tendong Lho Room Fatah in Gangtok on 8th August and Patriots Day in Imphal on 13th August. Bank branches will remain closed across the country on August 15 on the occasion of Independence Day and Parsi New Year. There will be a holiday of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur Jayanti in Agartala on 19th August. Apart from this, banks will remain closed in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Vijayawada on August 25 due to Milad-un-Nabi and First Onam. On August 26, there will be a bank holiday in many big cities of the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Jaipur and Lucknow due to Eid-e-Milad (Baravfat) and Tiruonam. At the same time, on August 28, due to Rakshabandhan and some other regional festivals, banks will remain closed in many cities including Bhopal, Jaipur, Shimla, Dehradun and Kanpur.

Actually, today is the fourth Saturday of the month and as per the guidelines of the Reserve Bank, no work of any kind is done in the banks on the second and fourth Saturdays.
Relief will continue to be available from digital banking services
Even though the physical branches of the bank will remain closed for 14 days in August, you do not need to worry about money transactions. You can avail all your digital banking services sitting at home. Your facilities like UPI, NEFT, Internet Banking and Mobile Banking will continue to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can easily transfer money online or pay any kind of bill. However, keep in mind that some special offline operations from the bank branch, such as going to the branch to get RTGS done, will not be available on holidays.
