When the entire police department was shaken by a video of a constable

This whole controversy started this year in May 2026, when constable Sunil Shukla created a stir in the police department by sharing a video on social media. In his video, he had made serious allegations and said that in the name of duty in the police line, illegal collection of money is made openly from the employees.

He had directly compared top and senior police officers to ‘Black British’ and claimed to expose the corruption within the department. As soon as this video surfaced on social media, Lucknow Police Commissioner immediately took action and on May 7, 2026, constituted a high-level committee to investigate this entire matter.

No evidence found in investigation, dismissed on charges of indiscipline

When a departmental inquiry into the matter was conducted by the Police Commissionerate, no concrete evidence was found to prove the allegations of corruption made by Sunil Shukla.

After this, Sunil Shukla was dismissed from the job on June 28, 2026, after finding him guilty of using objectionable and indecent language against the officers and strictly violating the Social Media Policy-2023 and Uttar Pradesh Government Servant Conduct Rules-1956. After this major action, dismissed constable Sunil had said that he has received this unique punishment for speaking the truth in the department.
