New Delhi: In view of the ongoing fierce protests led by the Cockroach Janata Party against rigging in the NEET examination in the capital Delhi, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken strict measures in view of the security arrangements. On the advice of security agencies, DMRC has announced complete closure of ‘New Delhi’ metro station till further orders. Under this decision, interchange facility will no longer be available for passengers at this major station.

Sharing information on its official social media platform ‘X’, DMRC said that New Delhi Metro station has been closed as per the security guidelines issued by Delhi Police. The process of entry, exit and train changing has been completely stopped at this station. DMRC has expressed regret to the passengers for this sudden inconvenience and has advised them to choose alternative routes before planning their journey.
17 other major stations of Central Delhi also affected
Earlier, DMRC had decided to close 17 ultra-sensitive metro stations of Lutyens and Central Delhi due to security reasons. During the initial arrangement, only interchange of trains was allowed at stations like Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat, but now due to complete sealing of New Delhi station, the problems of railway passengers and daily commuters going to New Delhi Railway Station have increased a lot.

High alert and paramilitary forces deployed in the capital
In view of the possibility of increasing crowd and violent clashes around Jantar Mantar and Sansad Marg, Delhi Police and Paramilitary Forces (RAF) have been put on high alert. The police headquarters has already canceled regular leaves of all policemen to maintain law and order. The efforts of the security agencies are to ensure that the protesters do not move towards the Parliament House or other high security government complexes under any circumstances. DMRC has appealed to the passengers to check the official updates of the Metro before starting their journey.
