The Indian cricket team defeated host Zimbabwe by 7 wickets in the first T20 match played at Harare Sports Club on Thursday (23 July). With this victory, India has taken a 1-0 lead in the 3-match T20 series. After losing 7 consecutive matches under the leadership of captain Shreyas Iyer, Team India has got its first win under the captaincy.

Batting first, the Zimbabwean team looked helpless against the Indian bowlers and could score only 125/7 runs in 20 overs. Mayank Yadav (2/18) and Prince Yadav (2/19) bowled lethally for India. In reply, thanks to Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s stormy half-century, India achieved the target in just 13.2 overs.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has now become the first batsman in the world (among Full Member countries) to score his first fifty at the youngest age in international cricket. 2. Youngest batsman to score a fifty in T20I history

Vaibhav scored 50 runs against Zimbabwe in just 19 balls with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 263.16. With this, he has become the youngest overall batsman to score a half-century in T20I format. He left behind Lewis Bruce of Gibraltar (16 years 56 days).

3. Third Indian bowler to take a wicket on the very first ball in T20I

Fast bowler Mayank Yadav, returning after injury, dismissed Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett for a golden duck on the very first ball of the match. With this, he has become the third Indian bowler to take a wicket on the first ball of a T20I match.
