Tom Holland appears to be in great spirits as he prepares to play legendary dancer and actor Fred Astaire in an upcoming biopic.
Speaking to Good Morning Americathe 30-year-old English actor shared an exciting update, revealing that he has already returned to the dance studio to fully immerse himself in the role ahead of filming.
“I now feel like I’m starting this chapter where I can’t quite get away with being a teenager anymore,” Holland said.
He continued, “For me, what I love about my job is the challenges. We have Fred Astaire next, which is what we’re planning on doing. And as soon as I finish with these tours, I’m diving back into the dance studio.”
The Spider-Man star admitted that while taking on the role excites him, it also fills him with “absolute dread.”
“I did my first few rehearsals recently, and it both filled me with excitement and absolute dread because I’ve got so much work to do to try and do Fred proud,” he added.
Holland also expressed his desire to perform the biopic’s dance sequences without relying on stunt doubles.
“I have a desire to use no doubles, to do all of the dancing, to shoot those dances in one shot – how he would have done it,” he explained.
When will Tom Holland’s Fred Astaire biopic be released?
The highly anticipated Fred Astaire biopic was first announced in December 2021. Filming is currently targeted to begin in January 2027, but the project does not yet have an official release date.
