After spending nearly four years awaiting release, Huma Qureshi and Mrunal Thakur 's ' Pooja Meri Jaan ' is finally set to reach audiences. The thriller, directed by Navjot Gulati and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik , has been announced as part of an upcoming OTT slate, ending a long period of uncertainty. The film had remained unreleased after its originally planned streaming debut fell through, with multiple platform negotiations reportedly failing over the years.

Reflecting on the prolonged wait, Navjot Gulati said he is more interested in celebrating the film's arrival than revisiting the obstacles that kept it shelved.

He shared with HT City, "The film is a courtroom drama and the story deals with abetment to suicide, which I feel was relevant four years ago and remains relevant today. I'm trying to focus on the fact that our film will finally be out there for people to see, rather than all the struggles to get a release in the past few years."

Gulati believes that meaningful cinema continues to resonate regardless of when it is released. Drawing a comparison with a celebrated Bollywood classic, he expressed confidence that his film's subject remains timely.

He shared, "If you see all that is happening in the country today and then go watch ' Rang De Basanti ', you will wonder how was that film made? It cannot be made today. Not that my film has anything to do with RDB but I believe a good film stands the test of time. I hope the same for our film."

The filmmaker also revealed that he has remained in touch with lead actors Huma Qureshi and Mrunal Thakur throughout the delay, adding that the entire team has eagerly awaited the film's chance to finally find its audience.

Navjot Gulati already looking ahead to the next project

While 'Pooja Meri Jaan' is finally heading for release, Gulati has already wrapped work on his next directorial venture, ' Badtameez Gill ', featuring Vaani Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurana and others.

Speaking about the project, he said, "That film will have a theatrical release and is currently in post production. We are hoping it will be out by yearend."

With one long-delayed project finally ready to premiere and another nearing completion, the filmmaker is looking ahead to a busy phase while hoping 'Pooja Meri Jaan' receives the appreciation it has waited years for.
