It is being said that he was beaten with a stick, due to which he suffered serious injuries. He has since been admitted to a hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

Police presence at the site has been continuously increased and additional troops have been deployed to maintain law and order. Police are keeping a close watch on the situation and security has been tightened in sensitive areas.

Earlier on July 20, clashes also took place during the parliament march of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). Demonstrators approached the gates of Parliament, which the police resorted to light lathi-charge to disperse.
