New Delhi. After the age of 40, many natural changes start happening in the body. However, health experts believe that by adopting the right lifestyle, the body can be kept active and fit for a long time. Let us know those 5 important habits, by adopting which you can maintain better health and energy even after 40.
1. Exercise 30-45 minutes daily
After the age of 40, regular physical activity becomes very important. Brisk walking, cycling, yoga, swimming or light strength training helps keep muscles strong and heart healthy. Make a habit of exercising at least five days a week.
2. Give priority to protein
As age increases, the body’s need for adequate protein, calcium, fiber and vitamins increases. Include pulses, milk, curd, cheese, eggs, fish, green vegetables, seasonal fruits and dry fruits in your diet. Limit the consumption of fried and excessively sweet things.
3. Get enough and good sleep
Quality sleep of 7 to 8 hours daily is essential for body recovery, hormone balance and mental health. Avoid staying up late at night and overusing screens. Make a habit of sleeping and waking up at regular times.
4. Keep stress under control
Constant stress affects both the body and mind. Meditation, pranayam, yoga, listening to music or spending time with family are good ways to reduce stress. By being mentally healthy, the body also feels more energetic.
5. Get regular health checkups done
After the age of 40, tests to blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, liver, kidney and heart should be done from time to time. If any disease is detected in time, its treatment becomes easier and serious risks can be reduced.
