Balrampur- During the inspection of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Mukesh Kumar Rastogi, shortcomings were found in the health system of the district. At around 2 pm on Wednesday afternoon, the CMO, who reached CHC Utraula and CHC Gandas to inspect the elderly, found a total of 22 officers and employees absent in both the hospitals. Dirt, beds without sheets and negligence in disposal of bio-medical waste were also seen in many wards. The CMO gave instructions to stop the salaries of the absent employees and seek explanations. During the inspection of the attendance register at CHC Utraula, nine officers and employees were found absent.

These include four doctors, lab technician, block program manager, computer operator and sweeper. During the inspection, dirty bedsheets were found in the emergency and heat wave wards, while serious irregularities were also found in the disposal of bio-medical waste. The CMO instructed to make prescriptions of all patients online through ABHA ID, lay clean sheets in the wards every day and ensure regular follow-up of the patients. After this, the CMO inspected CHC Gandas Elderly, where the situation was found to be even worse.

The hospital superintendent was also absent during the inspection. Many beds in the wards were found without sheets, some had dirty bedsheets and the cleanliness of the emergency ward was also found to be very poor. There were not even covers on the pillows. Expressing strong displeasure on this, the CMO termed it as serious administrative negligence. CMO Dr. Mukesh Kumar Rastogi directed the superintendents of both the hospitals to immediately remove all the shortcomings found during the inspection. Also, after taking clarification from the absent officers and employees, the compliance report along with comments should be made available to the office of the Chief Medical Officer soon.
