Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt, the youngest offspring of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has initiated a legal process to drop “Pitt” from her name. This action makes her the fourth child of the former Hollywood couple to seek a similar change. The 18-year-old has filed her request with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing “personal” reasons for the alteration. A court hearing is set for November 2, as reported by various sources.

This name change reflects a growing trend among Jolie and Pitt’s children, who have opted to distance themselves from their father's surname in both public and legal matters. Although the exact reasons for these changes remain undisclosed, it has reignited interest in the family's ongoing public separation and the legal issues that have arisen since their split in 2016 after over a decade together. The couple shares six children: Maddox, 24; Pax, 22; Zahara, 21; Shiloh, 20; and twins Knox and Vivienne, both 18.

Shiloh Jolie was the first sibling to successfully change her name, having filed to remove “Pitt” upon reaching 18 in 2024. Earlier this year, both Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt and Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt began similar processes. According to California law, individuals wishing to change their name legally must publish a public notice before their court hearing, allowing for any objections. Zahara has already been using the name Zahara Marley Jolie publicly, while Maddox has been credited as Maddox Jolie in his work on Jolie’s film Couture.

Vivienne, born in 2008 alongside her twin brother Knox, made her acting debut in the 2014 film Maleficent, where she played a young Princess Aurora. Recently, she served as a producer’s assistant on the Broadway production of The Outsiders, which her mother was involved in. The details surrounding her name change request remain unclear, only mentioning “personal” reasons.

The petitions for name changes come in the aftermath of Jolie and Pitt's widely publicized divorce, finalized in 2024 after a lengthy legal struggle. Their separation was notably marked by a 2016 incident on a private plane that led to an investigation into allegations against Pitt, from which he was ultimately cleared following an FBI review. A representative for Pitt has stated that he continues to respect his children, with sources indicating he hopes for better relationships in the future.
