New Delhi . Heart diseases are increasing rapidly due to changing lifestyle, unbalanced eating habits and increasing stress. While earlier heart attacks and other heart problems were seen in older people, now a steady increase in such cases is being recorded in younger people as well. Health experts say that in most of the cases, wrong lifestyle is responsible for this and by improving some habits in time, the risk of serious heart diseases can be reduced to a great extent.

Experts say that the heart continuously circulates blood throughout the body. When fat starts accumulating in the arteries, blood pressure increases or cholesterol levels become unbalanced, additional pressure is placed on the heart. This condition can later lead to heart attack, stroke and other heart diseases. The biggest challenge is that many times these problems keep developing in the body for a long time without any obvious symptoms.

Sitting at one place for a long time is also considered harmful for the heart. By continuously sitting and working, the body is unable to utilize its energy, which leads to problems like obesity, increased blood sugar and bad cholesterol. Experts recommend that getting up every now and then, taking a walk and making regular physical activity a part of the daily routine.

Eating habits also have a direct impact on heart health. Frequent consumption of junk food, fried foods and packaged snacks high in salt, sugar and saturated fat increases the chances of fat accumulation in the arteries. This leads to problems like high blood pressure and cholesterol, which are major risk factors for heart diseases. Instead, consuming a balanced diet, fresh fruits, green vegetables, whole grains and adequate water is considered beneficial.

Smoking and tobacco consumption are among the most dangerous habits for the heart. The chemicals present in tobacco damage blood vessels and affect blood flow. Due to this, the heart has to work harder than normal, which increases the risk of serious diseases. Similarly, excessive alcohol consumption can also have adverse effects on the heart and blood pressure in the long run.

Lack of regular exercise also affects heart function. At least 30 minutes of physical activity every day helps control blood pressure, increase good cholesterol levels and keep body weight balanced. Along with this, it is also very important to control mental stress. Due to continuous stress, such hormones increase in the body which have negative effects on blood pressure and heart.

Adequate and quality sleep is also important for a healthy heart. Continuously getting less sleep can disturb the hormonal balance, which increases the risk of problems like obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure. Experts recommend getting seven to eight hours of sleep every day so that both body and heart can remain healthy.

Health experts also recommend that blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol should be checked from time to time. If there is a family history of heart disease, regular health checkups and medical advice should not be ignored. Healthy habits adopted on time not only keep the heart safe, but also form the basis of overall health and better quality of life.
