In a notable achievement under the ongoing ‘Drug-Free Himachal Campaign’, the CIA team from Nurpur Police made a significant arrest at the Kandwal police barrier. During a routine inspection, officers stopped an HRTC bus and apprehended a 19-year-old passenger found with 10.16 grams of heroin, commonly referred to as chitta.

On July 21, 2026, at approximately 1:50 PM, the bus (HP 31 A 8869) traveling from Pathankot was halted for a check. A young man appeared nervous upon noticing the police presence and attempted to exit the bus. The team acted quickly, detaining him and conducting a search in front of witnesses, which led to the discovery of a clear plastic packet containing heroin in his pocket.

Additionally, authorities confiscated a bus ticket from Pathankot to Shahpur and a Lava 5G smartphone belonging to the suspect.

Legal Proceedings Initiated Legal Actions Taken

An FIR (No. 186/2026) has been filed at the Nurpur Police Station under Section 21 of the ND&PS Act. The suspect has been taken into custody, and the police are currently investigating both backward and forward connections to identify the source and intended recipient of the drugs.
