New Delhi:Bajaj Auto is gearing up to refresh its presence in one of India’s most important motorcycle segments. After a record-breaking first quarter, the brand has confirmed plans to update its 125-160cc motorcycle portfolio as it looks to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing segment.
The range presently includes motorcycles from the Pulsar and Freedom families, although Bajaj has not yet revealed which specific models will get updates or when they will arrive.
The brand’s focus on this segment comes following a strong performance from its sports motorcycle business. In its Q1 FY27 earnings update, Bajaj Auto said product interventions across the Pulsar range helped it gain market share. In fact, the sports motorcycle segment expanded by around 50 per cent during the quarter.
Bajaj’s course of action and product plansThe upcoming updates to the 125-160cc range are expected to build on this momentum. Bajaj had already indicated in its annual report that it intends to increase its focus on the domestic 125cc-plus motorcycle market, with the Pulsar 125 Classic. It has been spotted testing several times and is believed to be one of the upcoming products in the pipeline.
Financially speaking, Q1 FY27 was a record quarter for Bajaj Auto. Revenue from operations increased 37 per cent year-on-year to Rs 17,244 crore. The profit after tax rose 42 per cent to Rs 2,983 crore. EBITDA grew 45 per cent to Rs 3,596 crore, resulting in a healthy 20.9 per cent margin. Total vehicle sales reached a record 1.44 million units, representing a 29 per cent year-on-year increase. Domestic two-wheeler volumes grew 11 per cent. Exports surged 52 per cent to reach their highest-ever quarterly level.
Bajaj has been busy, introducing updated versions of the Pulsar 125 and Pulsar 150 earlier in 2026. Even the 2026 Pulsar 220F received refreshed graphics, new colours and LED turn indicators. Even with the EV, the Chetak range has come with features including things like integrating Google Maps, higher top speed and additional riding modes.
