Indian Domestic Cricket Rules: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made many changes in the rules before the 2026-27 domestic season. In this, rules have been made especially for bowlers who deliberately bowl no-balls. According to the new rule, if a bowler intentionally bowls a front foot no-ball, he will be barred from bowling for the entire match. According to the earlier rules, if a bowler did this, he was suspended from bowling in the stipulated innings, but now he will be suspended from the entire match. Apart from this, many other changes have been made.

BCCI made these changes

Recently BCCI has shared the amendments suggested by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) with all the state cricket associations. According to the report, BCCI has made changes in Rule 41.8 of ‘Playing Conditions’, under which the decision to suspend a bowler from the entire match will be taken by the umpire present on the field. Apart from this, the second major change is to the rules to the end of the game.

According to the new rule, if a wicket falls during the last over of the day, that over will still be completed. Till now, stumps (end of play for the day) were declared at the same time when the wicket fell in the middle of the last over. MCC believed that due to Rule 12.5.2, the new batsman did not get the opportunity to come to the crease at the end of the day. Due to this, this rule has been changed.

These rules were also changed

BCCI has amended many rules of domestic cricket. Under this, now no team will be able to take the option of declaring an innings or giving up the innings (forfeit) in the last innings of a match. The BCCI has made changes to Rule 15.2 because the governing bodies believed that this provision was being used to achieve artificial results, which is against the spirit of the game. Not only this, in ODI domestic matches, now the head coach of the team will be able to come on the field during the ‘drinks break’.

Now the wicketkeeper will have to keep his gloves behind the stumps only when the ball is bowled. Earlier, as soon as the bowler started his run-up, the wicketkeeper had to keep his gloves behind the stumps the entire time. Due to this rule, many times in the past the ball was declared a no-ball or not considered as stumping.
