New Delhi. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has given a public reaction for the first time amid the growing political controversy over alleged paper leak and other irregularities in the NEET exam. However, the opposition alleges that the government is engaging in political allegations instead of responding to the concerns of the students.

After the opposition’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ march in Delhi, the Education Minister accused Congress and opposition leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi of making political use of the students’ issue. On the social media platform X, he said that the aim of the opposition is not to solve the problems of the students, but to disrupt the monsoon session of Parliament.

However, the opposition says that the government is avoiding answering serious questions to the future of lakhs of students. Many opposition parties, including Congress, allege that the alleged irregularities continuously emerging in competitive examinations have raised questions on the credibility of the examination system. He says that detailed discussion on this issue in Parliament and demanding accountability from the government is part of the democratic process.

During the ‘Chalo Sansad’ protest, the police stopped the protesters from moving towards the Parliament. During this period, incidents of use of heavy force against many leaders and workers also came to light. The opposition called it an attempt to suppress peaceful protests, while the administration called the action necessary to maintain security.

Political analysts believe that the government’s response to examination- controversies has been the constant target of the opposition. The opposition alleges that the government is trying to change the center of debate through political allegations instead of giving clear answers on core issues like student complaints and reform in the examination system.

On the other hand, the Central Government claims that several corrective steps are being taken to make the examination system more secure and transparent and action is being taken against the culprits. The government is also saying that the opposition is trying to take political advantage of the sentiments of the students.

It is noteworthy that recently, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while publicly reacting to the opposition’s protest over alleged irregularities in the examination, had tweeted and accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the party of using the issue for political purposes during the monsoon session of Parliament.

If seen, the NEET controversy is no longer just an issue of examination system, but has become a major topic of conflict between the government and the opposition, from Parliament to the streets. The eyes of students and parents are on what concrete steps the government takes to restore confidence in the examination system and whether a meaningful discussion can be held on this issue in Parliament.
