This village, located about 200 km from Pune, is known for its tradition where the Indian Cobra is given a place to live with respect in the house, instead of killing it. The most unique identity of Shetphal is that a special place called 'Devasthanam' is made in almost every house here. This is usually a small protected area near the roof of the house or near wooden beams, where snakes can come and rest. Whenever a new house is built, this space is considered an essential part of the construction. The people of the village consider cobra as a sacred creature associated with Lord Naga and Lord Shiva.
