Former England fast bowler Katherine Sciver-Brunt has been appointed assistant coach of Trent Rockets Women for the 2026 edition of The Hundred, marking her first coaching assignment since retiring from professional cricket in 2023. The appointment also reunites her with the franchise she represented as a player between 2021 and 2023 and will see her work alongside her wife, England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, who remains part of the Rockets squad.

Sciver-Brunt, who was awarded an OBE last month for services to cricket, finished her playing career as England's second-highest wicket-taker across women's international cricket with 335 wickets, including 170 in ODIs. She was also a member of England's victorious squads at the 2009 Women's T20 World Cup and the 2017 Women's ODI World Cup. Sciver-Brunt said,

"The time has come for me to step back in to a role within cricket. I've had a wild three years since retiring trying to figure out what life looks like for me now as a mum!"

Sciver-Brunt will join head coach Chris Read in the women's setup, with former Nottinghamshire spinner Graeme White also coming in as fielding coach. She described Trent Bridge as the ideal place to begin her coaching career, having built strong connections with the franchise during her playing days. She said,

"The first place I thought of was the Trent Rockets. Trent Bridge is such a special place, and having been involved as a player with the Rockets before, coming back as a coach was an opportunity I just couldn't turn down."

Looking ahead to the new challenge, Sciver-Brunt added:

"I'm moving in to a new era, and I know coaching and mentoring players of this standard will be something I'll love. I'm really excited to be on the other side of the fence and to finally come back to The Hundred."

Sciver-Brunt's arrival also highlights the limited number of high-profile women coaches currently involved in The Hundred. With Charlotte Edwards leaving Southern Brave to coach England, MI London's Lisa Keightley is now the only female head coach in the competition.

Former England internationals Anya Shrubsole and Sarah Taylor continue as assistant coaches with Manchester Super Giants and Southern Brave respectively, while Australia's Ash Gardner now captains Trent Rockets after Nat Sciver-Brunt stepped down from the role last year to focus on her England commitments.
