Aston Villa have officially completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder João Gomes from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a transfer deal valued at up to £38 million.
According to BBC Sport, the agreement consists of an initial payment of £34 million, with an additional £4 million linked to performance-based clauses and potential add-ons.
The 25-year-old midfielder arrives after making 130 appearances and netting seven goals for Wolves since joining them in 2023.
During the previous season, Gomes featured 41 times as Wolves ended the Premier League campaign at the bottom of the standings.
This signing follows Aston Villa’s recent record-breaking purchase of Johan Manzambi from Freiburg last week, underlining the club’s ambitious recruitment strategy.
The move also comes in response to midfield setbacks for Villa, with Youri Tielemans departing for Manchester United and Amadou Onana sidelined due to a serious knee injury.
