Temporary ban on Chardham Yatra

Dehradun: Due to the continuous torrential rains in Uttarakhand and the red and orange alert issued by the Meteorological Department, the administration has decided to temporarily stop the Chardham Yatra. This step has been taken in view of the incidents of landslides and road blockage at many places, so that the safety of the passengers can be ensured.

The administration said that the situation on the Chardham Yatra route is being continuously monitored. At the places where roads have been affected, relief work and road restoration work is going on at a fast pace. Authorities have been instructed to accommodate the stranded devotees at safe places and provide them food, medical and other necessary facilities.

The Garhwal division administration has instructed all the concerned district magistrates that the passengers should be allowed to proceed only after the weather becomes normal and the route is declared completely safe. Along with this, instructions have also been given to share all the important information to the journey through official mediums from time to time.

The administration has appealed to the devotees not to believe any kind of rumors and only follow the official information issued by the government departments. It has been advised to follow all travel instructions till the weather and road conditions become normal.

Officials say that as soon as the circumstances improve, a decision will be taken to restart the Chardham Yatra. At present, the priority of the administration is to ensure the safety of all the devotees and to normalize the affected routes as soon as possible.
