World Jump Day 2026: World Jump Day is celebrated every year on 20 July. Its purpose is to promote physical activity and health. On World Jump Day, people of all ages are encouraged to get up and jump. Jumping is a great way to exercise and reduce stress.
History of World Jump Day
The concept of World Jump Day was promoted by Torsten Lauschmann, a German artist. The first event took place on July 20, 2006. Laushman created a website to promote the day. When approximately 600,256,820 registered jumpers joined the site, Loshman presented the jumping activity as an art installation to raise awareness about global warming.
Purpose of World Jump Day
The purpose of this day was actually to change the Earth’s orbit, increase the hours of daylight and create uniform weather throughout the world. On World Jump Day, people around the world are encouraged to jump at exactly 11:39:13.
According to Greenwich Mean Time i.e. GMT, this will increase the distance between the sun and the Earth, which will reduce the risk of global warming. It is based on the theory that changes in the Earth’s mass will cause changes in the Earth’s orbit. Loshman believed this would help reduce global warming.
Scientifically, it is not possible to change the Earth’s orbit forever and such a jump does not end global warming.
