According to Hindu calendar, Guru Purnima Tithi is starting from 6.22 pm on 28th July. After this, this date will end at 8:08 pm on 29th July. For this reason Guru Purnima will be celebrated on 29th July.

On July 29, Brahma Muhurta will be from 4:17 am to 4:59 am. Whereas Vijay Muhurta will be from 2:43 pm to 3:37 pm. Apart from this, the evening period will start from 7:14 pm till 8:17 pm.

What to do on the day of Guru Purnima?

1. On the day of Guru Purnima, wake up in Brahma Muhurta and take bath. After that take a resolution and keep the fast.

2. Worship the Gods and Goddesses and your Guru in the morning. Also read and listen to the fast story.

3.Donate grains, clothes and money to needy people on this day.

4. Worship Guru in the evening. After this, break the fast by offering Arghya to Moon God.

According to the legend, one day Maharishi Parashar had gone out for a tour. There he met a woman named Satyavati. Satyavati was very beautiful and was the daughter of a fisherman. Because of this his body always smelled of fish. When Satyavati met Maharishi Parashar, she expressed her desire to have a child from the sage.

The sage was surprised at first after hearing this. He told that it would not be appropriate to give birth to a child through an immoral relationship. Along with this, while giving a boon, he said that the child born from your womb will be very knowledgeable. Then Satyavati set a condition that the future son should be a great scholar and his body should smell like flowers. After this, a son was born from Satyavati’s womb, who was named Dwaipayan. Later, the same Maharishi became famous by the name of Vedvyas.
