The Uttar Pradesh government is going to give a completely new direction to the cow-based green economy with the aim of promoting rural development, clean energy and increasing the income of farmers. Under the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, complete preparations have now been made to set up mini biogas plants on a large scale in all 75 districts of the state.

The main goal of this ambitious initiative is to make villages completely self-reliant in terms of energy, promote natural farming and open new avenues of employment for the youth of rural areas.

Mini biogas plants will be set up in every district

Under this wonderful scheme, a big target has been set to provide mini biogas plants to at least one thousand houses in every district of the state. Keeping in mind the local needs of the people, both fixed and portable modern plants will be installed.

This will provide rural families with an excellent alternative source of domestic fuel for cooking and will also ensure better utilization of animal dung.

Cowsheds will become energy and resource centers

The government does not want to limit Gaushalas only to the care and protection of animals, rather their intention is to develop them as rural resource and energy centres.

Along with preparing biogas, bio-CNG and high quality organic fertilizer with the help of cow dung, work will also be done vigorously on new and modern opportunities like carbon credit in future. This is expected to give a new and strong strength to the economy of the entire rural area.

Technical cooperation and private sector participation

To make this project completely successful and effective, full cooperation is being taken from renowned technical institutions as well as the private sector.

Many big and leading companies have shown keen interest in investing and working in this sector to strengthen modern technology, better operating systems and timely maintenance. This will greatly ease the expansion and operation of this project.

Employment doors will open for youth and women

Under this scheme, the youth of rural areas will be given complete and professional training in setting up, operating and maintaining a biogas plant.

This will create a new army of trained technicians within the villages. Apart from this, many new self-employment opportunities will also be created for self-help groups, women entrepreneurs and small-scale businessmen, which will accelerate the economic activities of the villages.

Relief from LPG expenses and promotion of organic farming

The gas produced from the mini biogas plant can be used directly in the kitchen of homes, which will reduce people’s dependence on expensive LPG cylinders in the market to a great extent.

Along with this, the slurry coming out of the plant will serve as an excellent and high quality organic fertilizer for the farmers. This will reduce the use of chemical fertilizers in the fields and give impetus to natural farming.
