Neymar has chosen to lift his spirits following his international retirement by purchasing a spectacular £17 million ($23m) superyacht. The Brazilian football icon, who ended his journey with the Selecao after their World Cup elimination, has now joined the likes of David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo by investing in a lavish vessel.

Having now become part of football’s exclusive boating elite, Neymar has officially completed the acquisition of his £17 million superyacht. The Santos forward decided to indulge himself with this luxurious purchase soon after Brazil’s disappointing exit from the 2026 World Cup.

The yacht, named 'Enejota' — a creative nod to the Portuguese pronunciation of his initials 'NJ' — marks a symbolic new chapter in Neymar’s illustrious career. Though the price tag is staggering, it parallels the extravagant purchases of his peers. Ronaldo, for instance, spent about £5.5 million on his luxury yacht in 2020 to celebrate a Serie A title with Juventus, while Beckham is another well-known enthusiast of marine luxury.

As reported by Nautica, the 'Enejota' is far from an ordinary leisure yacht. It is a carefully restored cargo ship originally built in Brazil. Measuring over 46 metres in length, the vessel recently anchored in Angra dos Reis in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Offering a vast 800 square metres of usable space, it provides Neymar and his guests ample room to unwind in comfort.

In terms of performance, the superyacht is equipped with four powerful Caterpillar engines, each producing an impressive 1,450 horsepower. This incredible power allows the vessel to cruise effortlessly along Brazil’s scenic coastline, offering Neymar a peaceful retreat away from the relentless public attention that has characterised much of his career.

The purchase also serves as a means of distraction from what was a deeply emotional close to Neymar’s international tenure with Brazil. The forward confirmed his retirement immediately after the Selecao’s round of 16 defeat to Norway — a match where he netted his 80th and final goal for his country. Reflecting on the loss, Neymar told Globo, “I tried, I tried.”

Now, as the 'Enejota' rests in the calm waters of Rio de Janeiro, Neymar turns the page to a fresh chapter in his life. He remains one of the world’s most famous and wealthiest athletes, capable of making multi-million-pound purchases with remarkable ease.
