A day after throwing ink at Cockroach Janata Party chief Abhijeet Dipke during his hunger strike at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, Barkha Trehan has defended her actions and levelled serious allegations against Dipke and his supporters.

Trehan claimed she threw the ink to protest what she described as remarks mocking Lord Ram and Goddess Sita during the event. She also alleged that she was physically assaulted by supporters immediately after the incident. 'I Can't Tolerate Insults to Lord Ram ,' Says Trehan

While speaking to ANI on Sunday, Trehan said she has no objection to peaceful protests and denied having any political affiliation.

According to her, the protest led by Dipke and the Cockroach Janata Party had "nothing to do with the real NEET issue" and was instead driven by a political agenda.

She further alleged that Dipke and others on stage were mocking Hindu deities, which prompted her to throw ink in protest.

"I am a devout Hindu. I cannot tolerate insults to Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, Goddess Durga or Goddess Kali. I felt compelled to protest," she said.

Trehan accused Dipke's supporters of attacking her after the ink-throwing incident.

She alleged that she was beaten, her hair was pulled, and she was physically assaulted, claiming she suffered injuries to her hands, fingers, waist, and legs.

She also thanked the Delhi Police, saying officers intervened and escorted her to safety.

"If the Delhi Police had not rescued me, they would have killed me," she claimed.

These allegations have not been independently verified, and authorities have not publicly commented on the specific claims.

Trehan also alleged that the protest organisers were using social activist Sonam Wangchuk for political purposes, comparing the situation to what she claimed had happened with veteran activist Anna Hazare during earlier anti-corruption movements.

She said she had gone to Jantar Mantar intending to convey this message to Wangchuk.
