Switch from OxygenOS to ColorOS
In a post on the OnePlus India Community Forum, the company said that the company is shifting to ColorOS with the ColorOS 17 update, which will be based on Android 17. That means all the new OnePlus smartphones coming after the software release will work directly on ColorOS 17. Currently, Oppo smartphones are launched with ColorOS. The company says that if you own a OnePlus smartphone that is eligible for future Android updates, you will be given the option to update to ColorOS 17 optionally.
OnePlus says these changes will make software development easier and updates can be shared more quickly. These changes will provide users with a ‘more stable, reliable and future-proof software experience’. OnePlus says OxygenOS will share the same codebase with ColorOS from 2021 and OnePlus devices in China are already using it. Not only this, Realme is also set to cancel future plans for its Android skin, Realme UI. Like OnePlus, all new Realme phones going forward will run on ColorOS 17.
OnePlus shut down operations in America and Europe
According to some reports, in posts made on various community forums, OnePlus has confirmed that the company is shutting down its business in the US and Europe. The company said that the decision to stop the rollout of new products in both regions was made as part of a projective global strategy adjustment.

That means, no new OnePlus devices will be launched in North America and Europe in the future. According to the company, support to existing users will continue as per warranty terms and consumer protection laws. The remaining stock will continue to be sold in North America and Europe. Just like India, users in the US and Europe will also get the option to update to ColorOS 17 on eligible devices. Realme will now focus on select overseas markets and stop selling its devices in China.
