What did Akash Chopra say about Mohammad Siraj?

Former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra believes that it is incomprehensible to keep an experienced bowler like Mohammad Siraj out of the ODI team for no apparent reason. Recently, Aakash Chopra has spoken openly on his YouTube channel about the exclusion of Mohammad Siraj from the team. During this, Akash said that first Siraj was dropped from the ODI team saying that he was not as effective with the old ball.

But since then he is being continuously ignored and there is no clarity regarding his role. Chopra believes that Siraj is always fit and ready to give his 100% for the team.

When was the last ODI match played?

Team India’s star fast bowler Mohammad Siraj last played an ODI match in the home series against New Zealand. After this match played in Indore on 18 January 2026, he was continuously ignored in the Afghanistan and then England series also. Chopra expressed hope that there are constant changes in the fast bowling department, in such a situation an experienced bowler like Siraj can make a comeback.

Also, Aakash Chopra believes that even though Siraj is out of the team these days, it will not be easy to ignore him in the plans of 2027 ODI World Cup.

Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj made his ODI debut in the year 2019. Siraj has played a total of 50 matches in this format so far, in which he has taken 76 wickets in 49 innings at an average of 25.32. However, in the last few years, he has got very few opportunities in limited overs.
