WhatsApp for iPhone: This feature has started appearing for select beta users of WhatsApp for iOS version 26.27.74, and it is expected that the company will roll it out to the general public in the coming days.
WhatsApp has become a widely used messaging platform in the country. People use it for everything from texting and video calls to office work. However, WhatsApp offers different features to Android and iPhone users. In this context, WhatsApp is preparing to launch a new feature specifically for iPhone users. This feature will make switching microphone modes during voice and video calls much easier than before.
According to media reports, this feature has started appearing for some beta users of WhatsApp for iOS version 26.27.74, and a wider rollout is expected soon. With this update, users will get the option to change the microphone mode directly on the WhatsApp call screen, eliminating the hassle of switching audio modes during a call.
It is worth noting that this feature relies entirely on Apple's existing microphone technology. WhatsApp is not adding a new audio system; instead, it is making these native iPhone features available directly within the app.
This feature will provide users with an easy way to utilize the iPhone's existing microphone processing capabilities. It will include four audio modes: Standard, Voice Isolation, Wide Spectrum, and Automatic. Each of these modes can be used according to specific needs.
A key highlight of this feature is that users can set a chosen microphone mode as the default. Once set, that mode will be used for every call until the user manually changes the setting. While WhatsApp recently introduced an AI-based noise cancellation feature on Android, for the iPhone, the company will utilize Apple's built-in audio processing system.
It is worth noting that this feature is currently reported to be available to a limited number of iPhone beta users. If the testing proves successful, the company may roll it out to all iPhone users in the future. Once that happens, enhanced audio control during WhatsApp calls will be just a tap away.
