The government oil companies of the country are now preparing to promote new technology for reducing wastage of LPG and better use of the fuel. Companies like Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum are pushing for the adoption of liquid LPG off-take systems among large industrial and commercial customers. It is believed that this technology will lead to better utilization of LPG and the amount of gas left in the cylinder will be significantly reduced.

What is Liquid LPG Off-Take Technology?

Generally, gas is extracted from LPG cylinder in the form of vapor. In this process, some amount of LPG remains inside the cylinder, due to which the fuel is not fully utilized. Whereas, in liquid LPG off-take technology, LPG is extracted in liquid form with the help of special equipment. After this, it is converted into gas and used through vaporizer. Due to this the cylinder becomes almost completely empty and wastage of fuel is reduced.

Which areas will benefit the most?

The maximum benefit of this technology will be given to those industries where LPG consumption is very high. These include hotels, restaurants, catering, food processing units, dairy, chemical industries and other manufacturing units. For institutions requiring frequent and large quantities of gas, this technology can save costs as well as make operations more efficient.

Both companies and customers will benefit

Experts believe that if there is maximum use of LPG then the fuel cost of the customers will reduce. Besides, oil companies can also get relief from the challenges related to handling and refilling the gas left in the cylinders. This will increase the efficiency of the supply chain and the LPG distribution system will also become more effective.

Important steps towards increasing energy efficiency

The demand for LPG is continuously increasing in India. In such a situation, making better use of every drop of fuel has become the priority of the government and oil companies. Under this strategy, new technologies are being promoted so that wastage of energy can be reduced and maximum utilization of resources can be ensured. It is believed that in the coming time, the scope of liquid LPG off-take system may increase rapidly among large industrial consumers. This will not only reduce the operating costs of industries, but will also help in promoting energy efficiency in the country.
