Renowned academic Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike for 20 days at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, has been removed by police and hospitalized. His wife, Geetanjali J. Angmo, has issued a significant statement on this matter.

What did Sonam Wangchuk's wife say about him?

Renowned academic Sonam Wangchuk, who had been on a hunger strike for 20 days at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, was forcibly removed by police on Saturday morning (July 18). He was reportedly taken to a hospital. His wife, Geetanjali J. Angmo, has now issued a statement on the matter.

He posted on X, saying, "I am at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, where Sonam Wangchuk is admitted. He should not be given any medication or substance, either orally or intravenously, without my consent, the consent of his family, and the doctors who have been monitoring his health for the past 20 days."

Speaking to news agency PTI, Sonam Wangchuk's wife, Geetanjali, said, "He is at Safdarjung Hospital. I have forbidden him from giving anything without my approval. No treatment should begin without my permission."

Regarding Sonam Wangchuk's hospitalization, she said he appeared to be fine on Friday. Geetanjali Angmo added that he was fine until yesterday and there was no need to bring him to the hospital. Wangchuk's wife, Angmo, stated that it is her right under Article 32 that nothing can be administered without her and her doctor's approval.  

Regarding this matter, Abhijeet Dipke, a leader of the Cockroach Janata Party, said that the Delhi Police forcibly dragged away a 60-year-old man who had been on a hunger strike for 20 days. He further stated that the Delhi Police assaulted him
while he was traveling from his friend's house to Jantar Mantar. He called the Delhi Police "RSS goons."
