This means the news is completely baseless. The caption accompanying the post reads, "A fake is circulating online, claiming that a refundable tax of Rs 7,500 will be required to recover a pending amount of Rs 100,000."

 

It further states, "According to PIB Fact Check, this letter is fake. RBI never contacts the public through unsolicited phone calls or emails to solicit money or any personal information. If you have been a victim of such a scam, file a complaint with local law enforcement agencies (police)."
