I was pleased to see that the chain-detail belt made the transition from the runway, as it helps define the silhouette and gives the look a welcome focal point. The plum tights, however, were one styling element I could have done without. They made sense within the context of the runway presentation, but here they felt unnecessary and weighed the look down. That said, I suspect the fit will be a bigger talking point than the styling. The bodice doesn’t sit as cleanly as it did on the runway, and I also prefer the original silhouette of the skirt. As a result, the dress doesn’t have quite the same impact it should. This isn’t my favourite look from the Tracee Ellis Ross and Marc Jacobs fashion partnership.
