Mohamed Salah’s legal representative, Ramy Abass, has dismissed recent reports suggesting that the former Liverpool star is on the verge of signing for Turkish club Besiktas.
Journalist Santi Aouna had earlier reported that Besiktas had reached a verbal understanding to bring the Egyptian forward to Istanbul.
According to Aouna’s claims, Salah was expected to agree to a one-year deal with an option to extend for another 12 months, earning approximately €12 million (£10 million) inclusive of bonuses.
However, Abass cast doubt on these assertions, posting on X: “I personally do not know where Mohamed will play next season. What does that tell you?”
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, regarded as a credible source, supported Aouna’s version of events but provided additional context.
Sabuncuoglu stated that while talks between Salah and Besiktas are indeed ongoing, both parties are still discussing the contract’s duration and image rights arrangements.
Abass’ comments indicate that the negotiation process may not be as advanced as Aouna suggested, though they do not completely dismiss the possibility of a move to Besiktas.
Besiktas are eager to strengthen their squad as they aim to challenge reigning Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray, and they see Salah as a high-profile addition capable of narrowing the gap.
The Istanbul club identified Salah as a prime target following their acquisition of Leandro Trossard from Arsenal earlier this transfer window.
Salah had announced in March his intention to leave Liverpool after a reported disagreement with then-manager Arne Slot.
The Egyptian international has also been linked with a potential switch to Major League Soccer, with Sporting Kansas City believed to be exploring the possibility of signing him.
