Indian Railways has added a new chapter (Hydrogen Train) towards clean and modern transportation. With the launch of the country’s first hydrogen train from Haryana, Railways has taken a big step towards environment-friendly technology. With the launch of this train, India has also joined the list of select countries where trains running on hydrogen fuel are operating.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first… hydrogen train Flagged off. This train will run on the 89 km long rail route between Jind and Sonipat and is being considered an important part of the green transportation initiative of Indian Railways.
Electricity will be generated from hydrogen, there will be no smoke Hydrogen Train
This train does not depend on overhead power lines like conventional electric trains. In this, electricity is generated through the chemical process of hydrogen and oxygen. During this process, only water steam and heat are released, which does not cause pollution and is considered safer for the environment.
Modern systems installed for security
The train is fitted with state-of-the-art safety systems to detect hydrogen leaks, fire, excessive heat and smoke. With the help of these technologies, efforts have been made to make travel more safe.
World’s largest hydrogen train with 10 coaches
This hydrogen train of Indian Railways has 10 coaches and about 2600 passengers can travel in it. It is being described as the world’s largest hydrogen train. Its operating speed has been kept at 75 kilometers per hour, while its design speed is 110 kilometers per hour.
Largest hydrogen refueling plant built in Jind Hydrogen Train
Under this project, the country’s largest railway hydrogen refueling plant has also been built in Jind. Here complete arrangements have been made to fill hydrogen in the train. Railways is also working on the possibility of running hydrogen trains on heritage routes like Kalka-Shimla in future.
Big step towards green railway
Indian Railways has been working rapidly on electrification (Hydrogen Train) in the last few years and now most of the broad gauge railway routes have become electricity based. The introduction of hydrogen train is being considered a major achievement of the clean energy mission of Railways, which can help in reducing carbon emissions in future.
