Suvendu’s taunt to Mamata Banerjee: ‘Now you have free time, come by helicopter’

In the politics of West Bengal, the tension between Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is once again at its peak. During the foundation stone laying ceremony of a new steel factory unit in Mejia, Bankura, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has fired such a political arrow at Mamata Banerjee, which is being discussed in the entire state. Suvendu sarcastically said that since she now has a lot of free time, she can come to Bankura and see this plant. Not only this, he even said that if he faces any problem in coming, he will arrange for a government helicopter for him.

A strong attack on the ‘outsider’ narrative

Addressing the function, Suvendu Adhikari took on the issue of ‘outsider versus insider’ often raised by Mamata Banerjee. He said, “Mamata Banerjee often targets Hindi-speaking people and the Marwari community by calling them ‘outsiders’ and says that she will not let Bengal become Gujarat or Uttar Pradesh. I would ask her to come to Bankura herself and see what a huge contribution those she calls outsiders have made to the development of Bengal.” Suvendu has tried to completely demolish the old narrative of TMC by calling this steel plant a symbol of development.

CM was impressed after seeing the inside of the factory

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said that he is extremely impressed with the arrangements of this factory complex. He said that the way the entrepreneurs here have respected the culture of Bengal is praiseworthy. Grand temples of Lord Radha-Krishna and Shiva have been built in the factory premises, there is a big cowshed and there is greenery all around. Additionally, huge statues of great figures of Bengal—Rabindranath Tagore and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose—have been installed here, reflecting their deep respect for the culture of Bengal.

new turn of politics

During the TMC rule, BJP and Hindi speaking businessmen have often been given the tag of ‘outsiders’. Now Suvendu Adhikari has tried to use this plant of Bankura as a shield to show that those who are bringing investment in the state, have full respect for the soil of Bengal and its great men. This unique offer of helicopter has once again brought Mamata Banerjee’s silence into question. It remains to be seen what new turn this ‘helicopter war’ of Bengal politics takes in the coming days.
