Lifestyle Desk – If you are bored of eating pakodas, samosas or kachoris every day and want to try something new with your evening tea, then Crispy Onion Rings are a great option for you. This is considered a very good snack during the rainy season. Golden brown and crunchy on the outside, while soft onion layer on the inside, these snacks are so delicious that everyone, whether children or adults, likes them. The good thing is that making them does not require any special material or much hard work. In a few easy steps you can get restaurant-like taste at home. Let us know the recipe of making onion rings.

Material

Onion-2 large
Flour-1 cup
Corn flour-2 tbsp
Red chilli powder-1 tsp
Black pepper powder-1 tsp
Oregano or mixed herbs – 1 tsp
salt-as per taste
Bread crumbs-1 cup
Water or milk-half cup cold
oil for frying

Method

  1. First of all, peel the onion, cut it into round slices about half a centimeter thick and separate all the rings.
  2. Now add flour, corn flour, salt, red chilli powder, black pepper and oregano in a bowl and mix well. Prepare a thick and smooth batter by slowly adding cold water or milk into it.
  3. Now dip each onion ring thoroughly in this batter and then wrap it in bread crumbs so that it gets evenly coated.
  4. If you want to make it more crispy, you can do double coating of batter and bread crumbs again.
  5. After this, heat oil in the pan. When the oil is well heated, fry the onion rings on medium flame until they become golden brown and crispy. After frying, take them out on tissue paper to remove excess oil.
  6. Serve hot onion rings with tomato ketchup, mayonnaise, cheese dip or any chutney of your choice. If you wish, you can also sprinkle chaat masala or a little pizza seasoning on top, which will further enhance their taste.

Tips for Perfect Onion Rings

  1. Use big sized onion, it makes good rings.
  2. Do not keep the batter too thin, otherwise the coating will not be good.
  3. Use fresh and dry bread crumbs.
  4. The oil should not be too hot or cold; frying at medium temperature makes the rings crispy from outside and soft from inside.
