New Delhi:Jawa had revealed the 1000 Sport Cruiser concept at the Brno Motorcycle Show in the Czech Republic at the start of this year. It has been designed by Czech designer Jan Hrbek, who was also responsible for the recently revealed Jawa 730 Twin. The concept integrates a low-slung cruiser silhouette with styling that reinterprets Jawa’s classic design elements with a modern twist.
The 1000 Sport Cruiser will be powered by a 999 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine made in the Czech Republic. Peak performance figures are claimed to be 113 hp and 95 Nm. The motorcycle is reportedly capable of hitting a top speed of 215 kph. Kerb weight is about 240 kg, and seat height is said to be 795 mm.
What we know about the Jawa 1000 Sport Cruise ConceptMedia sources have suggested that the bike comes with a double-cradle frame taken from, though not identical to, the one in the Jawa 730 Twin. The bike has a 730 cc parallel-twin made in collaboration with Swiss engineering specialist Suter, and the larger Sport Cruiser is going to come with a strengthened version of the chassis to accommodate the more powerful engine.
Suspension comes with fully Ohlins at both sides, with twin rear shock absorbers and a USD fork up front. Braking is handled by Brembo Stylema callipers, with OZ Racing wheels and a LeoVince exhaust making up the rest of the package.
The motorcycle displayed at Brno is understood to be a pre-production prototype. Media reports indicate that the 1000 Sport Cruiser has been jointly made by Jawa and the Chinese motorcycle manufacturer Jedi. However, neither of the companies has officially confirmed the partnership.
Production details also remain under wraps, with reports suggesting a run of either 10 or 15 motorcycles. Regardless of the final figure, the 1000 Sport Cruiser is expected to be an ultra-exclusive model. If the rumoured price tag of €62,000 (about Rs 68.25 lakh) proves accurate, it will be positioned as a rare collector’s motorcycle rather than a mainstream production model.
