Joju George and Shaji Kailas have reunited for the action thriller 'Varavu', which released in theatres on the last day. The film opened amid decent expectations and has now registered its first-day box office numbers.

Film opens with Rs 51 lakh India grossAccording to a report by Filmibeat, 'Varavu' collected an estimated Rs 51 lakh gross in India on its opening day.

The Day 1 collection gives the film a modest start at the domestic box office. The film also recorded a decent pre-release booking performance before its theatrical debut.

According to figures shared by the Cine Times X page, 'Varavu' sold around 10. 31K tickets during the advance booking period. On its opening day, the film recorded another 25. 58K ticket sales. This took the overall ticket sales to 35. 89K.

Social media reactions remain dividedThe film has sparked mixed reactions on X (formerly Twitter). While several viewers appreciated the action choreography, visuals and Joju George's performance, many others expressed disappointment with the screenplay and storytelling.

Another viewer criticised the film's writing, posting, "#Varavu is a revenge drama that might have worked 25 years ago, but feels painfully outdated in every sense today. The screenplay is predictable from start to finish, the emotional beats never land, and the film struggles to stay engaging."
