Amid allegations that current world champion Argentina is benefiting from biased decisions, Messi said that the team has achieved its success on the basis of hard work and performance.

After trailing 0-1 till the 85th minute in the semi-final match against England, Argentina made a brilliant comeback to win 2-1 and made it to the World Cup final for the second consecutive time. Now he will face Spain in the final on Sunday. Earlier, Argentina had also won against Cape Verde, Switzerland and Egypt by scoring goals at the last minute. However, coaches of some teams had raised questions on the referee’s decisions.

Coaches from Switzerland and Egypt criticized refereeing decisions in Argentina’s matches. Egypt coach Hossam Hassan even said that his team is a victim of a football system that works in favor of Messi and Argentina. After this, Argentina was also criticized on social media and some people alleged that FIFA, the supreme body of football, wants Argentina to become world champion again.
‘We proved ourselves among the top teams in the world’
After the win over England, Messi responded to the criticism by saying, “In the last four years we have had the best performance, whether you like it or not and no matter what you say.” He said that Argentina has once again established itself among the top two teams in the world.
According to Messi, this proves that the team’s success is no coincidence. He said, “Very few teams have been able to achieve the feat of reaching two consecutive World Cup finals and this team has done it. If we had lost to England, people would have started talking different things, but we did not give them a chance.”
This statement of Messi has come at a time when Argentina is once again close to the World Cup title and the team is responding with its performance amidst constant criticism.
