Attention Students: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the deadline for new admissions and re-registration for various Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), Diploma, PG Diploma, and Certificate programs for the July 2026 session to July 31, 2026. Interested candidates can seek guidance and necessary assistance regarding admission through the IGNOU Learner Support Centre (0508) at Purnia College, Purnia. The entire admission process is being conducted via IGNOU's official online portal. As per university guidelines, possessing an APAAR ID is mandatory for every candidate prior to admission.

Additionally, learners wishing to re-register for the second or third year/semester of their programs can also apply online until July 31, 2026. Dr. Suraj Singh, Assistant Coordinator of the IGNOU Learner Support Centre (0508) at Purnia College, Purnia, stated that IGNOU's courses are employment-oriented, skill-based, and based on a flexible learning system. This enables students to pursue higher education conveniently alongside their jobs, businesses, or other family responsibilities. He noted that the centre provides regular academic counseling, timely notifications, and continuous support to students, resulting in a steady increase in enrollments.

He urged all interested candidates and learners to complete their admission or re-registration processes as soon as possible without waiting for the deadline, thereby avoiding last-minute technical issues or other inconveniences. Dr. Suraj Singh further stated that after enrollment, eligible students can apply through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) to avail the benefits of various scholarship schemes run by the Government of India. 

Additionally, under the Bihar Government's 'Mukhyamantri Balika (Snatak) Protsahan Yojana' (Chief Minister's Girl Child (Graduate) Incentive Scheme), eligible female students who graduate from IGNOU are awarded an incentive amount of ₹50,000. To avail the benefits of this scheme, it is mandatory for the student to be a domicile of Bihar and to have completed the graduation program from an IGNOU study center located in Bihar.
