NEET UG 2026 Result: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the results of the NEET UG 2026 examination, paving the way for counselling and admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other undergraduate medical courses across the country.

Around 20 lakh candidates appeared for the examination, while 11.21 lakh students qualified. This year's results highlight an impressive performance by female candidates, who make up more than 58% of all qualified candidates.

Punjab and Haryana Students Share AIR 1

Two candidates jointly secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 by scoring 715 out of 720 marks.

Girls Outperform in NEET UG 2026

One of the biggest highlights of this year's results is the outstanding performance of female candidates.

According to NTA:

• More than 58% of all qualified candidates are women.

• Most top-ranking candidates fall within the 17–19 years age group.

• Female candidates secured several positions among the country's highest scorers.

Score Distribution

The results show strong competition at the top end of the merit list.

• 19 candidates scored 700 marks or above.

• 138 candidates secured 690 or more marks.

• 1,492 candidates scored 650 or above.

• 10,160 candidates obtained 600 or more marks.

States Dominating the Top Ranks

Candidates from the following eight states featured prominently among the highest ranks:

• Punjab

• Haryana

• Rajasthan

• Uttar Pradesh

• Maharashtra

• Bihar

• Tamil Nadu

• Telangana

These states accounted for most of the candidates securing the top positions in the national merit list.

Top Performers from Union Territories

NTA also announced leading candidates from various Union Territories.

Among them:

• Jigmet Yangchan Lamo (Ladakh) – 530 marks

• Dhruv Tripathi (Andaman & Nicobar Islands) – 606 marks

• Fahmida Anees (Lakshadweep) – 573 marks

State and Union Territory toppers were declared across the country, including the North-Eastern states.

NEET UG 2026 Examination Highlights

For the 2026 admission cycle:

• Total MBBS seats: Approximately 1.08 lakh

• Government Medical Colleges: Around 56,000 seats

• Private Medical Colleges: Around 52,000 seats

Qualified candidates will now participate in the counselling process for admission to medical and allied health science courses.
