White vs. yellow peaches: Which is healthier?

White and yellow peaches offer similar amounts of fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, making neither variety significantly healthier than the other.

A medium peach of either type contains about 67 calories, 14 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber and 1 gram of protein. Both are also good sources of B vitamins, vitamin E and potassium.

Yellow peaches contain slightly higher levels of certain antioxidants, particularly beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A to support vision, immunity and skin health, according to Verywell Health.

They also provide more lutein, zeaxanthin and beta-cryptoxanthin. Research suggests lutein and zeaxanthin may help protect the eyes from age- diseases, while beta-cryptoxanthin may contribute to stronger bones.

White peaches contain fewer antioxidants overall but remain a useful source of flavonoids, plant compounds known for their anti-inflammatory properties. These compounds may help support heart and brain health and promote healthy blood pressure.

Because the two varieties are nutritionally similar, the choice largely depends on personal preference. White peaches tend to be sweeter and less acidic, while yellow peaches have a tangier flavor.

People seeking more beta-carotene may prefer yellow peaches. However, both varieties contain plenty of antioxidants, making either a nutritious addition to a balanced diet.
