Russia Odessa Missile Attack News: A missile attack by the Russian Army in Ukraine’s southern port city Odessa has caused massive devastation. At least two people lost their lives in this attack on the evening of 16 July 2026, while eight others were seriously injured.

According to local officials, the injured also include innocent children, who have been admitted to the hospital. This attack was carried out targeting residential areas, due to which there is an atmosphere of panic among the local citizens.

Civil infrastructure targeted

Serhiy Krasilenko, deputy head of the Odessa City Military Administration, said Russian missiles had deliberately damaged civilian infrastructure. Several multi-storey residential buildings, a religious institution and a pre-school have been badly damaged in this attack.

Apart from this, many cars and other civilian property parked on the roads have also been reduced to debris. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported direct damage to a three-story residential building in a district of the city.

Rescue and relief operations continue

According to Odessa Oblast Governor Oleh Kiper, emergency response teams, municipal personnel and operational headquarters were deployed to the scene immediately after the attack. Rescue teams are searching for people trapped under the debris and relief operations are going on a war footing.

Injured civilians are being provided immediate medical aid while officials are assessing the total damage caused by the attack.

Second horrific attack in 48 hours

On the night of July 15, a Russian missile fell on a multi-storey apartment in Odessa, killing three people and injuring six others. According to reports, Odessa Oblast has been facing continuous missile attacks for the past five days, deepening the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Tension on other fronts of the war

Amid the attacks on Odessa, Ukraine’s military has also reported retaliatory measures. Ukraine’s Omega Special Forces have claimed that a drone strike has targeted a Russian Su-24 bomber in occupied Crimea. Additionally, on the morning of July 17, the Russian ‘Shadow Fleet‘ There have also been reports of attacks and fires on tankers.
